What is the best dog for a road trip?

I’ve never owned a dog, and whatever I adopt, because I am adopting, needs to be comfortable coming along on extended road trips. Not just in a car, but in a Morgan 3-Wheeler. Also, I’d prefer a dog that would look good in a Polizei “Hund K9” outfit.

I’ve found this Pet360 article “9 Best Dog Breeds to Bring on a Road Trip“, but no details are given as to why these particular nine dogs would be better than any others. They suggest:

  1. Japanese Chin
  2. French Bulldog (My current choice)
  3. Bassett Hound
  4. Newfoundland
  5. Labrador Retriever
  6. Clumber Spaniel
  7. Standard Poodle
  8. English Bulldog
  9. Maltese

Any better suggestions?
